entschuldigung für mein deutsch nochmal.. aber eine warnung ist benötigt ;p
gothic 2 (Nacht des Raben+2.6 patch installiert) soll nicht arbeiten unter 1024x768 mit den neuen Catalyst 4.2 Treiber.. ich habe ein:
Athlon XP 2000+,
512MB pc2700
Ati Radeon 9200
SB Live Player 1024..
es kann sein das es nur mit Radeon9200s das gefall ist, aber obwohl Gothic in 800x600 ohne problemen aufladet, gibt's ein DXDERR_UNSUPPORTED halt error wenn du das probiert in 1024x768..
or, in english for those that just couldn't understand what the hell i'm trying to say in german ;) (i'll learn it before i die tho :P)
catalyst 4.2+Gothic 2 (expansion) is a No go in 1024.. will work in 800x600 (or 640, but i didn't try that).. but as soon as you switch to 1024 you get the D3DERR thing described above.. blame ati for releasing another retarded driver i guess.. and just stick to the 4.1 drivers if you want to play it in a decent reso

yay! i scared ppl so much with my version of german they're talking english to me now :P
but no, i installed DX9b, didn't work, went back to DX8.1, didn't work, uninstalled Catalyst 4.2, rebooted, and installed 4.1 (with dx9b again), and it worked again..
so it's just an issue with 4.2 and gothic2 i guess

hmmm did ya try to reinstall the game?sometimes that´s the easiest way to fix errors:D ya might should check ur graphic drivers again. umm well try it dude!:D

I cant help you with the Driver Problems...
Better Graphic:
Well if you cant use higher Resolutions for better graphic, the Radeon 9200 can use Antialiasing and Ansiotropic Filter for a better graphics. Well its not what you want, but i also looks better with these effects....
Maybe it helps not to install the update for the AddOn. Maybe just playing with the 2.5 version helps. But well, i dont know if this is a solution for your problem. I would doubt it myself, but you can try ;-)
Well, but anyway ist there a problem using the 4.1 Catalyst drivers? I guess if you using these drivers you get problems with other Applications?

naw.. there's no trouble at all with the 4.1 ones.. i just updated em coz newer drivers usually are better (although avi can't seem to program properly :@)..
the game works fine with the 4.1 drivers.. and i can play it again now that i went back to them.. i'm just warning others not to switch to the 4.2 ones :)
and your english is a lot better than my german

@foppe-jan: Well the Graphic Freaks in german boards are allways discusing if newer drivers are better or not. As i noticed they never came to any conclusion. So i only update my graphics driver, if i had some terrible problems with games. I also have a dx8 card, so the new drivers from nvidea usually dont make anything better...
But thats not the same for ati, in one of the lastest driver they improved performance of dx8 cards. Your card must be an Dx8, isn`t?
English and German:
I guess in german boards you can allways try english. They will try to understand. And most of the people do understand english pretty good. Esspecially the roleplaying Gamers, because plenty of them play english fantasy games and dont wait till it is translated ;-)

hehe.. same here :P.. i can understand german fairly well.. but speaking/typing it is sort of awkward
.. i come up with all these words that mean sort of the same but can't be used in the context :D(see the above for reference ;))
but yea.. i just got bored waiting for an english release of Nacht des Raben (that prolly won't be there).. so i finally got the german one :)
